Incorporating Demonstrations Into Introductory Physics Courses

This module was developed to introduce lecturers to the benefits of instructional tools and demonstrations (aka “demos”) in their introductory physics classroom. The courses that benefit from this module include all of the 100-level physics courses provided through University of Massachusetts Amherst, notably the “service courses” which are aimed at non-natural science majors. This module includes what makes a good demo, how to integrate demos into lessons, common mistakes, how to avoid those mistakes, and provides clear, easy to follow directions for the planning of demos for classroom lectures. The module will also provide examples on how demos can be integrated.
